The City of Attleboro announced Oct. 19 that it has completed a comprehensive reassessment of all property classes for fiscal year 2027, as required by the Massachusetts Department of Revenue's Bureau of Local Assessment and state law. The city has received preliminary certification of the new values.

The proposed assessments reflect the estimated fair market value of properties as of Jan. 1, 2026, based largely on an analysis of arms-length sales during 2025. Where there were not enough 2025 sales to analyze, the city used sales from 2024 and 2026. Assessors also relied on income and expense data from commercial and industrial properties, personal property forms, and updated property data from building permit inspections, sales reviews and cyclical inspections. The Board of Assessors worked with consultant Vision Government Solutions Inc. on the analysis.

As a result, assessments changed by an average of 3%, though the city noted this is a statistical average: some property values stayed about the same, some decreased and some increased.

A public disclosure period runs from Tuesday, Oct. 20, through Monday, Oct. 26, giving taxpayers a chance to review their updated assessments and ask questions. Preliminary values can be viewed at the Assessor's Office at City Hall Complex, 77 Park Street, on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to noon. Values are also available at the Larson Senior Center, 25 South Main Street, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., or on the city's public disclosure page. Lists are organized by street address and by owner name.

Taxpayers with questions can call 508-223-2222, extension 3131, email assessor@cityofattleboro.us or visit the Assessor's office. After the disclosure period ends, the values will be submitted to the Department of Revenue for final certification.
