Council Approves Solar Tax Pact, Fire Transfers

City Council · Meeting of September 15, 2026

Attleboro council locks in a 20-year solar tax deal and two fire fund transfers. Chief Assessor Julie Hobson told the council the pilot agreement with Attleboro Renewable Energy LLC for a 6.435-megawatt solar facility at 103 Richardson Avenue will generate $1.83 million over 20 years, calling pilots "not tax breaks" but a way "to stabilize the projected revenue stream." Councilor Sawyer pressed on whether the city gets any power benefit; Hobson said no, the pilot covers only personal property tax. The council also approved, 11-0 by roll call, a $347 fire training reimbursement and a $1,004.64 Home Depot bottled-water transfer, continued an Online Only Auto Sales LLC dealer license hearing to October 6, and referred a winter brine de-icing and local emergency operations center resolution to Public Works, 10-1, over one councilor's objection that it was "interfering with the administrative duty."
