Council votes to bill applicants for notice costs
City Council · Meeting of September 22, 2026
Attleboro council votes to make applicants, not taxpayers, pay for public hearing notices. The Ordinances, Elections and Legislative Matters Committee unanimously amended Section 9-1.1 of the city's revised ordinances, with the chair estimating savings "probably close to $20,000" a year; Councilor Sawyer had pressed for a number. Separately, the Human Resources and Veterans Committee confirmed Madhvi Kammer to the Sustainability Commission, where she said "I'm hoping to... devote my time and energy to their mission," and reappointed Stephanie Tracy to the Disability Commission.
The council also accepted a $3,800 ice rescue sled from Joseph Parent and $10,500 in "Wicked" tickets from the Rodman Center, and heard the mayor report that Winterfest is paused and a zoo market study is due back in about two months. Councilor Reynolds noted a state sales pause has left three Attleboro Kratom retailers unable to sell inventory they already bought.
