Attleboro's School Committee tabled a fee waiver for the Attleboro White Hawks football program over legal concerns. Chairman Geddes said an absent member, Mr. Stores, flagged Massachusetts General Law sections restricting school funds to educational uses, calling the request "a head versus heart vote." Mr.
Bennett outlined a discounted $100-an-hour feeder-program rate, about half the standard nonprofit charge, while Mr. Poore called it "absolutely ludicrous" the team doesn't already play at the taxpayer-funded high school stadium. Mr.
Larson warned that waiving fees "opens the door to all groups." The motion's mover and seconder, Mr. Larson and Mr. Domenici, withdrew both before any vote, pending a legal-counsel review ahead of the September 14 meeting.
The committee separately approved $53,475.61 in prior-year invoices and five consent items unanimously.
